What's new in Bwee

1.8.0 · October 8, 2026

You can run Codex in Bwee now, Claude can open and test web pages beside your chat, and the chat's text box works like one.

New capabilities

• Run Codex tasks in the same chat as Claude. With both installed, pick Claude or Codex at the top of the model menu before your first message.
• New to Bwee? Setup asks whether you work with Claude Code or Codex and sets up just that one.
• Claude can open a real web page next to your chat, like your dev server, then click, type and read it to check its work, even in a task you aren't looking at. Sign in to a site there once and every task stays signed in.
• Claude's slash and @ menus show in the chat, and you can click a row to pick it.

UX improvements

• What you type wraps at the composer's width, and you can select, drag and Shift-arrow through it like any text box.
• Picking an effort saves it as your default for that model. Press S over a level to use it for this task only.
• Changing the model or effort no longer asks you to clear your draft first. It comes back when the menu closes.
• While you dictate, the pill sits right after the caret and the words after it move over.

Bug fixes

• Tool activity like "Running 1 shell command…" no longer shows up as Claude's reply.
• Long links and paths wrap instead of pushing the chat sideways.
• Switching tasks no longer replays every message fading in.
• Question cards stay put while you arrow through options with previews.
• Pasted text no longer shows stray tags in your message.
• Cmd+A in the composer selects only what you typed.
• On a Mac where Bwee can't get Accessibility and Screen Recording, Claude stops trying to use your other apps.

Claude tasks now read as a chat, custom views can use your mic and camera, and Bwee stays fast after hours of use.

• Claude tasks show a chat instead of a terminal. You still type into Claude Code, so slash commands, @ files, history and dictation work as before.
• Questions, permission prompts and plan approvals show as cards you click.
• Pick the model, effort and permission mode right from the composer.
• Custom views can use your mic, camera and notifications. Bwee asks the first time, and Settings lists every answer so you can change it.
• The HTML preview shows local images, video and audio.

UX improvements

• Model, context, cost and schedule sit in the composer's toolbar instead of a floating pill.
• Settings shows which permission modes your organization or settings files turned off.
• A tab shows a mic or camera mark while its view is recording.
• In voice mode, a thin bar marks where you're editing when the dictation pill moves off that line.

• Bwee no longer freezes on every click after hours of use with many tasks open.

Fixes

• Claude now knows it can use your other Mac apps in every new task, not just some, and works them in the background instead of reaching for AppleScript.
• The live preview of a window Claude is using no longer hides behind the model pill.
• The usage meter refreshes when you come back to the app or wake your Mac, and a limit that has already reset shows 0% instead of an old reading.
• With no task selected, the New task button shows its Cmd+T shortcut.

Claude can now work in your other Mac apps, the app wears a lighter look, and tasks start in Claude Code's fullscreen renderer.

Improvements

• Ask Claude to use another Mac app and it works in the background, reading the app and pressing its controls without taking over your screen or cursor. Every window it touches gets a live preview above the terminal, and clicking one brings that window forward. A setup panel shows the two macOS permissions it needs and opens the right Settings pane for whichever is missing.
• The whole app is lighter: brighter surfaces, a flat tab bar with a persimmon underline on the active tab, a quieter model pill, and a header band that carries the task title while the sidebar is hidden. Hiding and showing the sidebar now slides open in one smooth pass instead of jumping the terminal around.
• Tasks start in Claude Code's fullscreen renderer, so the screen stops flickering as Claude works. Pick the classic renderer with /tui and Bwee remembers it.
• Scrolling with a trackpad in fullscreen moves at a natural speed instead of crawling, and the scrollbar stays out of the way where it could not scroll anything.
• Settings has a Permissions dropdown that sets the mode new sessions start in, and reopening a task brings it back in that mode instead of dropping to auto.
• Cmd+K now finds tasks you closed and reopens them right where the conversation left off. A conversation already open somewhere else is never opened twice.
• Resting on a task row's pin, close or clock names it in the app's own tooltip, and the pin has been redrawn.
• Wrapped lines in a markdown list hang under the item's text instead of running back under the bullet.

Fixes

• Starting dictation in an empty prompt no longer types a leading space, and the pill no longer covers the prompt's hint after you switch tasks.
• The dictation pill holds still while Claude Code redraws, and grows evenly above and below the cursor.
• Dictation waits through a pause before committing a period, so a sentence you are still thinking through stays open.
• The terminal's last row no longer sits flush against the bottom edge of the pane.
• The text cursor stays an I-beam over the terminal while Claude's fullscreen screens have the mouse.
• The sidebar's child task lines curve off one unbroken stem instead of breaking between rows.

Fork a task to branch its conversation, see which tasks wake themselves up, and lead tasks that can manage the tasks they spin up.

Improvements

• Right-click a task and choose Fork to start a new task that picks up the same conversation, leaving the original untouched.
• A task running a /loop or a scheduled wakeup shows a small clock in the sidebar. The task you're on shows how often it comes back, and hovering names the next wakeup.
• A task only turns bold when it needs you: when it finishes a turn you started, asks a question, or hits an error. A loop checking in on its own no longer bolds it.
• When a task hits a usage limit, the usage bar says so within seconds and shows when the limit resets, instead of a stale percentage.
• A lead task can choose the model for the tasks it creates, reorder them, and close them when they're done. Its tasks stay nested under it when it's pinned.
• Ctrl+Tab jumps back to your previous task even when it's in another workspace.
• Cmd+Backspace clears the current line in the terminal.
• Escape turns dictation off without interrupting Claude.
• Table editing in the markdown editor behaves like a rich text editor: Cmd+A widens from the cell to the row, the table, then the document; arrow keys and Backspace move in and out of a table cleanly; pasting a URL over selected text makes a link; and wide tables scroll inside their own frame.
• Rest on a file tab to see its path.
• With one workspace, the sidebar hides the workspace dots and shows just the "+", labeled on hover.

Fixes

• Talking again after editing mid-sentence during dictation no longer drops your words.
• Cmd+D no longer starts dictation behind an open dialog or steals focus from the command palette.
• Switching workspaces or tasks no longer animates the tab bar and task list sliding in.
• In fullscreen, the usage bar and the first tab no longer leave an empty gap where the traffic lights would be.
• The keyboard focus ring no longer shows up after a click or Escape; it only appears when you Tab.
• You can drag the window from the empty state when no task is open.
• Custom views no longer occasionally show as "not registered" after the app starts.

Built-in voice dictation, a lead task that can spin up and drive sibling tasks, and search across your Claude conversations from Cmd+K.

Improvements

• Press Cmd+D to dictate into the prompt. Words land as you speak them, on-device, and it stays on across pauses and task switches until you press Cmd+D again. Needs macOS 26.
• Claude can create sibling tasks in the current workspace from a lead task and check on them, so one session can fan work out and collect the results.
• Cmd+K searches the text of every task's conversation, not just titles, and shows a snippet of the match.
• Drag a task in the sidebar to reorder it, pin or unpin it by dropping it across the Tasks heading, or carry it to the edge to move it to the next workspace.
• Drag tabs to reorder them. The order sticks per task.
• A thin bar beside the traffic lights shows how much of your 5-hour Claude usage window is used; hover it for session and weekly usage with reset times.
• The terminal title bar shows the active task's model next to the context donut. Hover the pill for context used and what the session has cost so far.
• Your Mac stays awake while any task is running, and can sleep again once every task is idle.
• Delete a custom view from Cmd+P with the ✕ on its row or Cmd+Backspace.
• Cmd+P shows five views and folds the rest behind a "Show more" row so your files stay above the fold.
• Views that failed to load still appear in Cmd+P, marked broken, and open straight to the fix-it panel.
• The sidebar slides open and closed instead of popping.
• The "switch to waiting task" cue has a ✕ and puts itself away after five seconds.
• Copying from the terminal rejoins the lines Claude Code wrapped, so pasted paragraphs and paths come out whole.
• In the markdown editor, --, ->, <-, and <-> become dashes and arrows as you type. Cmd+Z restores the literal characters.
• Triple- and quadruple-clicking a list item selects its text without the bullet or checkbox, and Shift-click extends a selection.
• The sidebar pin is a real pin icon, and a new task fades in instead of flashing a blank white terminal.

• Cmd+Q quits on the first press instead of leaving a windowless app running.
• Opening Cmd+P over Cmd+K replaces it instead of stacking two dialogs.
• Esc closes find from anywhere in the app, not only when the find box has focus.
• The first tab no longer sits under the traffic lights when the sidebar is hidden.
• A renderer crash reloads the window instead of taking the whole app down.
• Dragging the splitter no longer leaves stale copies of the terminal screen above the live one.
• Pasting into a table cell commits right away, so Cmd+Z undoes it without clicking out of the table first.

• Opening or closing a view no longer blanks and redraws the terminal.
• Resizing the window resizes the terminal in one step instead of stuttering through intermediate widths.
• The sidebar's activity indicator reads Claude's own status instead of guessing from the screen, so it's right more often.
• A fourth click in the markdown editor selects the whole block: paragraph, list item, heading, code block, or table.

Fixes

• Typing - or * on the line right under a paragraph shows a bullet instead of the literal marker.
• Inline code in table cells no longer shows <link> as <link>, and editing the cell no longer writes the escaped form back to the file.
• Checkbox text lines up with bullet text.
• When a view fails to compile, the fix-it prompt Bwee sends Claude waits until Claude is ready for input instead of landing in the middle of a question.

The first release. Bwee gives you Claude Code in a terminal, with a custom interface beside it built for whatever you're working on right now.

• Tasks. Run several at once, each pointed at a project folder, each with its own terminal. Pin the ones you come back to.
• Interfaces on request. Ask for one in plain language and it appears next to the conversation. Keep talking to refine it. What Claude builds runs natively on your Mac, with real access to your files and terminal.
• Markdown editor. Edit a document beside the conversation, formatted as you type. Edits save straight to disk, and changes flow both ways.
• Nothing to pick back up. Every task keeps its conversation and its interface. Close the app, come back days later, carry on.
• Local by default. Your files, conversations, and interfaces stay on your Mac. The only thing that leaves is your conversation with Claude.
